Build Your Audience and Credibility with Confidence! — Wednesday, January 10 — St. Louis Publishers Association
One of the biggest challenges of becoming a published author is identifying your audience and building enough confidence and credibility to speak to them in a way that matters. Communication is key! You need to be able to start and build a following. Your works deserve to be noticed. You may not, however, feel comfortable talking about it, or perhaps you didn’t know what to say or how to say it.
Many writers are comfortable doing just that—writing. The English language in written form can be comfortable, soothing, even cathartic. Often people write from a place of deep feelings, thoughtfulness, reflectiveness, or even pain. Putting the words on a page brings a certain level of safety; however, in order to be successful, you must be bold enough to speak, as well.
This working session will help you to build confidence, speaking skills, and clarify your message for those who need to hear it. Join Jo Lena Johnson, the Absolute Good Resilience Coach and Publisher of Mission Possible Press, for an interactive workshop.
Book Sales and Signing at Ocean Springs Library, MS
If you’re a denizen of the Gulf Coast, come visit with me and my wife, AngieMae. We have a few personal plans to tour some more of my childhood stompin’ grounds, but–wait!–there’s more. Ms Yvonne Parton, Branch Manager of the Ocean Springs Library has been kind enough to book me for an Author Meet & Greet, on Saturday, the 17th of March 2018, from 10:00-12:00. Not just sales, this event will be a great time for Q&A, and opportunities to get to know each other–Writers and Readers alike. Come see me. Really. I’d love to chat about your works, too, so you’re energized to get your story out into the world.

Penned Con — Saint Louis — (TBD)
Penned Con is not your average book signing.
Penned Con is a family friendly event that was created as a full 2-day signing to allow you the chance to relax, hang out with old and new friends, visit with your fave authors / readers all in a laid back setting. You don’t have to worry about spending so much time in one line only to risk missing the opportunity to see another author. A 2-day signing allows for a kinetic and inspiring atmosphere that, once you experience it, you will come to realize is the perfect setting for all of your fangirl / fanboy needs.
As an established event, we host authors from all walks of publication, from indie to traditional, from newbie to authors with multiple books available. All are treated equally. All are given the opportunity to learn and grow, to discover new readers, and to have fun.
Attendees can join our authors in informative and hilarious panels, discover secrets of the trade in workshops, join us in reader and author interactive games, come party with us on the dance floor and help us give back to our partnered charity, Action for Autism through raffles and silent auctions.
ShowMe Writers Masterclass — Columbia — (TBD)
The Columbia Chapter of the Missouri Writers’ Guild (CCMWG) and Mizzou Publishing partnered together in 2015 to create the ShowMe Writers Masterclass – a dynamic event for writers of all genres.
There will be a multitude of opportunities to engage with fellow writers throughout
both days of the ShowMe Writers Masterclass. Through networking socials,
book signings, pitch fest and more, you will have the opportunity to connect with many literary agents and writers.
For over 55 years, the Columbia Writers Guild has served the writers of Central Missouri. The guild sponsors a variety of activities throughout the year to bolster and empower their writers, including the ShowMe Writers Masterclass. Many literary genres are represented by our guild members, and writers of all skill levels are welcome.
